Installing Road Bike Caliper Brakes
Mechanical disc brakes function in a similar way to rim brakes in that they use a steel cable to move the pistons.
Installing road bike caliper brakes. Placed at the center of the wheel disc brakes earn their name from the disc rotor that is attached to the hub of the bicycle wheel. Dual pivot sidepull brakes mounted on a center bolt have become the industry. They work by using a relatively small rotor a thin metal plate which is attached to the wheel hub and is seated between a brake caliper with two brake pads one each side of the rotor. Bicycle rim brakes divide into two basic types.
Caliper brakes are self contained mechanisms attached to the bicycle s frame by a single bolt for each brake front or rear. The arms reach downward from above the tire and need to be long enough to get around the tire. Whereas a road bike rim brake traditionally attaches to a hole in the frame or fork and then uses the wheels circumference as its braking surface disc brakes are a little more complicated.
