Road Bike Cassette Wobble
I have bike for 10 months and did over 2800 km on it.
Road bike cassette wobble. It is very much like this video on youtube except the bike i own is nowhere near as good or as pricey as the bike my bike is like a 150 200 bike and the wobbling on my cassette is much worse i would describe it as oscillating. On my road bike with shimano stuff the rear cassette with all the cogs wobbles when i free wheel it. However 3t does make an xd r 12 speed road cassette and are using it on the 3t strada team aqua blue pro tour team 1x12 road bikes. I have 3 rear wheels 2 bikes and have rotated wheels around in an attempt to isolate the problem.
It is quite soothing to watch like being rocked in a cradle. My bike isn t making noise and it isn t shifting bad just has this very visible wobble sometimes i think it s when the chain is in a bigger cog the biggest 3 are all mounted together on the cassette spider the rest are loose cogs put on one at a time. Hi everyone i ve noticed when i am doing stuff such as gear indexing and my bike is up on the stand that there is a slight wobble or oscillation to the smallest two cogs in the cassette. I had to install a 1 8mm spacer between the xg 1180 cassette and the hub to use it with 11 speed sram force 1 shifters.
Any suggestions please leave a comment. I noticed that cassette is wobbling after winter deep cleaning. Notice how it starts at the handlebar and then affects the whole bike. And here s a typical example below of it happening spontaneously out on road.
Free shipping http www bikemanforu on bike parts tir. If you look carefully when the wheel is turning at speed there just seems to be an ever so gentle movement. The video above shows someone purposely inducing speed wobble don t try this at home kids. I have no idea what brand as it looks like it s been frankensteined from several different bikes.
The whole part lockring and sprockets is called the cassette and the individual sprockets are called cogs it s a simple design and easy part to work on and fix as long as you are capable of removing your rear wheel and have the right tool for the brand of cassette used on your bike. Here is an article on bike radar that talks about the xdr standard. It s a 10 speed road bike frame looks like a simple peugeot road style. It s not a new bike by the looks of it.
