Road Bike Frame Too Small
My lower back hurts sometimes more sometimes less after about 20 miles or so and it s really made me a worse cyclist.
Road bike frame too small. If you want to know the sums then to find your road bike frame size take your inseam length in centimeters and multiply it by 0 70. But with those bars that go way out there and what appears to be an already long stem it appears to have you in a good position. Earlier this year i bought a brand new but 2006 frame condor leggero and in many ways it s a brilliant bike. I m 5 10 with a 30 inch inseam anyway the bigger bike is my preferred bike.
Have just picked up a second hand road bike that is a compact frame. Changing the stem size can also help. It is typically easier to fit a smaller bike than too large because simply it is easier to lengthen something on the bike as shortening something past the limits of the frame simply isn t possible. If you want a more upright position on the bike a smaller frame could help somewhat.
This can be mitigated by sliding the saddle backwards in the rails a bit but this can account for perhaps an inch at most. I have two bikes. The bike is probably to small if you had a more a modern bar shape. Yesterday i tested a defy 1 in both sizes riding them both twice on a loop that was about a mile long and included a short hill that i went down turned around and came back up again.
If not you may find this frame too small. I m much more comfortable on my old langster which is a real shame as the condor cost a hell of a lot of money. An older 1980s nishiki heavier bike chromoloy frame that my lsb claims is too big probably equivalent to a 58cm and a new light aluminum 56cm cannondale that feels too small but that is my exact fit according to the sizing charts. Bike fitting how to choose the right size of the bicycle.
I m thinking layback post and longer stem should. For mountain bikes take the same measurement and multiply 0 6 you will then need to change the centimeters into inches. Another guess is that if the frame was too small it would result in you having more seat post exposed than you currently do. Handling too large frame with a short stem will result in the rear wheel being overweighted while a too small frame and a long say 130 or 140mm stem will result in an overweighted front wheel.
It may however be slightly too small not catastrophically but slightly. I m 5ft 11 1 2 inches tall so the giant size guides suggest i can either go for a medium or medium large frame. Fit depending on the frame size you may not be able to get the ideal fore aft position of a plumb line behind the knee cap bisecting the pedal axle when your foot is at the three o clock position.
